Buddhists, how can I attain enlightenment, if I need to eat & drink & put on my clothes?

Buddhism is not about asceticism, nor is it about mindless indulgence; it is about finding the balance between both. Simply suppressing our needs and desires is a form of attachment--known as "aversion"--and leads to suffering. We instead should seek to understand our needs and desires through the practice of mindfulness, so that we can deal with them in the appropriate way.
