Illinois LLC laws?

i live in illinois and as a sub-contractor i have a question about LLC we all walked in to the office this week and were notified that we all had to become file for our own LLC to get another job from this company. now, we all carry our own insurance some of us work under DBAs and we all get 1099ed . does anyone know why this is an issue?
